RELEASE NOTES
VERSION 7.00 - 2005/09/01
First, I would like to Thank the great team of Beta Testers who came forward at my call for help - This *is* the biggest update I have ever done to the Sheet, and testing all these new functionalities was not an easy task. To do this update, I had to start learning VBA as it was the only way to add loading & saving and the many other goodies you'll find!
CHANGES form the
previous release:
The number of changes is actually quite large - instead of listing all the
changes here, I invite you to check them out in the download section of the
Homepage (search for v7.00)
The CONTROL PANEL
This is it - The most useful
worksheet one could have! The Control Panel is like a control center where you
are in charge. From loading characters, to hiding worksheet, all this is done in
the Control Panel. Some 'empty' space is intended for future updates of the
Control Panel (Meaning more options later on :) The Control Panel is divided in Sections - Let's
review those.
Character Section:
Reset Character: Used to completely blank the Sheet. Use this to make sure no data is left over from previous Characters
Load Character: Used to load in a Character. The extension of the Character file should be ".mcs", which stands for Multiclass Character Sheet.
Save Character: Used to save a copy of all Character Information. Everything about the current Character is saved to the ".mcs" file you select. This will allow you to easily upgrade to new updates of the Sheet - no more re-typing everything when a new update becomes available !!
Loading and Saving the CHARACTER:
The Sheet now has the ability to Save & Load
characters - this includes all information that makes up the character,
excluding any modifications made in the "Tables" worksheet (this will
be done later). Once saved,
Characters can be easily transferred to other Registered Users of the Sheet!!
Special sections of the Forums have been setup to receive user created .MCS
files!
Loading and Saving the RACE (and
CLASSES):
The Sheet allows you to Load/Save the Custom Race you create. This will
effectively allow people to create new
races (and share them via the Forum!) - When saving a "Race", the Sheet suggest
appending the word "Race" to identify that the saved file is holding only a Race. You
should be able to "load" any Race you created - even overriding the currently
created Race. If you don't "select" a race on the FRONT worksheet, the Control
Panel will indicate this. All this applies also to Custom Classes!
Spell List section
The Spell List Section allows you to create Spell Lists for your Divine
classes. Simply select your class in the white box (assuming you have selected
it on the Front worksheet first), and press the "Create Spell lists" button. The
Sheet will create a series of Spell List worksheets which contains your list.
Each spell list worksheet contains up to 55 spells - so if your list is larger,
multiple Spell Lists will be created. You can print out your Spell Lists for
your game. Once you do not need the Spell Lists anymore, simply use the "Delete
Spell Lists" button on the Control worksheet, and the lists will be removed.
Don't worry if you create a spell list over an existing one: the old one will be
cleared first. Note that you should never delete the Spell Lists worksheets
yourself: Let the Sheet handle that please!
Families:
Families for Armors, Shields and Weapons have been added in this
version. What is a "family"? Simply put, it represent a group of similar
objects, that would all benefit from the same Feats. Let's give an example: If
you create a new sword you call a "Sword of Might", which is a +1 long sword that
gives you a +4 Strength bonus when you say the command word. Now if you create
that sword in the Customize worksheet, you should also indicate that it is part
of the Longsword family (Start selecting the Family first, as all the basic
Longsword data will be inserted automatically for you). Change the data to
reflect your new weapon (like it's cost and description) - You can also set the
magical +1 bonus to both attack and damage while you're at it - Now the good
part: Since this "Sword of Might" is in the Longsword family, any feats you have
that affects Longswords (like Weapon Proficiency: Longsword) will ALSO benefit
your new "Sword of Might" !! So always select the base member of a family when
selecting related feats!
ATTACK sections:
As per your suggestion, I have updated the ATTACK section to allow each
pair to be used for Two-Weapon Fighting. So not only are the First & second
sections go together for Two-Weapon Fighting, but sections 3&4 and section 5&6
are also paired that way. Also note that you can now select the "Natural" attack
type!
Sheet Options:
All the Sheet options that were
previously in the Customized worksheet have been moved in sections called
"Related Information" that are located directly in the worksheet for which they
affect - Scroll on the "right" of most printable worksheets and you should see
those section on many worksheets. Note that those are NOT part of the printout!!
Non-Psionics Characters:
I added a checkbox to allow you to "hide" the Psionic boxes that appear
on the FRONT worksheet. If activated, the Psionic information will be hidden
from view!
Activation:
Use your Personal Key to activate this latest version of the Sheet - As a
reminder, please do not Share or give away your Key to anyone. I have been
working hard to make this Sheet what it is, and I would appreciate if you would
keep my hard work out of the hands of those who would undermine it.
Known Issues - MACINTOSH:
At this point, there are no know issues for the PC version of the Sheet - but
alas, there are still some glitches for the MAC version. I am trying, with the
help of other friendly users, to iron out these problems, but I decided to
release this version anyways - the majority of users are using Windows.
Please report any problems you find. If you come upon an obvious bug, double check!! (using all the resources available). An 'obvious' bug is, 99% of the time, cause by a lack of knowledge on how to use the Sheet.
THANKS ALL and HAPPY PLAYING!
