RELEASE NOTES
VERSION 7.10 - 2005/10/12
Sometime ago, one user requested if I could increase the number of classes supported in the Sheet. If I recall my answer, it was something on the lines of "I don't have space to add more!!" - and quite frankly, those who would use 3 classes or less would not want to see lots of empty spaces dedicated to classes they will never use... Finally I was able to come up with a solution to this thorny issue, and Version 7.10 is the answer I now give to those who love having characters with up to 6 classes!
Again, as was the case in the previous version, I own big thanks to all the great people who have helped me make this version as bug free as possible. The Sheet contains so much integration (automation) that little modifications usually have large impacts. Hence the help of those Beta testers is quite important at this advanced stage.
The Lessons of version 7.0
Version 7.0 has been a boon to the creation of new Classes and Races.
But we quickly saw that some aspects were more difficult to add because the
Sheet did not support abilitites from custom sources. Now comes Version 7.10 of the D&D3.5 MultiClass Character Sheet,
which
adds the possibility to customize MANY abilities. This was done in response to
users who were creating new Characters and Races which granted abilities similar
to the abilities of existing classes/races. This also provides a way to better
integrate abilities of custom classes/races. For instance, if you create a new
class that has a Unarmed Damage progression that stacks with the Monks, you can
now do so! The Sheet will automatically sum all the classes for which the level
stack for Unarmed Damage and adjust it accordingly. The beauty of this is that
since we are in Excel, you can even use Formulas to create conditional results,
making the Sheet even more versatile! Refer to the existing Core classes for
examples on how this was done!
CHANGES form the previous release:
Forum Update:
There are currently over 30 different races posted by Users in the
"Races of the Land" section of the Forum. There are about 30 different classes
posted in the "Classes of the Land" section of the Forum. If you
create New Races or New Classes, you can Share them with the rest of the
community! See those section for guidelines.
I also created a NEW section on the Forum called "Projects": This will be holding various Projects that are in existence for the Sheet. If you wish to participate in one of these project, you're quite welcome! There are 2 kinds of Projects: Those user created (like Draconas's HTML Parser) and those by me. Contact the Resource person if you wish to help out! If you have a project that would benefit the Sheet or the Sheet's community, let me know.
Activation:
Use your Personal Key to activate this latest version of the Sheet - As a
reminder, please do not Share or give away your Key to anyone. I have been
working hard to make this Sheet what it is, and I would appreciate if you would
keep my hard work out of the hands of those who would undermine it.
Known Issues - MACINTOSH:
The Mac version of the Sheet still has issues. I have started special topics in
the Mac section of the Forum to tackle these (plus workarounds if
possible). The best would be if I could find a Macintosh with Excel on it (to
test the sheet myself), but alas, none of my friends uses the Mac presently.
What's Next?
I posted a Poll on the Forum to let the Forum
users decide WHAT should be the next major Item I should work on. The Results
are in - 26 Forum users participated (% are rounded):
RACIAL templates: Let us be able to integrate Templates to our Characters : 26%
Create a GEAR worksheet with Containers (where Items can be stored - Bag of holding) : 19%
More LAPTOP support: Create a "resume" of the FRONT worksheet that fits the screen in Landscape : 15%
Integrate EFFECTS and SPELLS (Like Barbarian's Rage, Enlarge etc.) : 15%
FEATS: Ability to "Load/Save" Feat packs! : 11%
Add a MOUNT worksheet (Paladin) : 7%
Add a Construct worksheet (a la Familiar) : 3%
So I will be working on adding Racial Templates for the next version (7.20) - this will open up a whole new batch of possibilities for Characters!
Please report any problems you find. If you come upon an obvious bug, double check!! (using all the resources available). An 'obvious' bug is, 99% of the time, cause by a lack of knowledge on how to use the Sheet. You can post on the Forum. If you are NOT using the Forum for lack of time, just email me the issue and I'll take it from there.
If you like the work I have done,
TELL your friends about this SHEET !!
